Wedding dress necklines

  

Sweetheart:  
Classical design shaped like the bottom of a heart. It is very popular and very flattering on most brides. Looks great on fuller busted women and will draw the eye to the top of your silhouette. Enhances your “décolleté” and makes your neck appear longer. A very popular choice.

V-Neck: 
Cut in the shape of the letter V at the back or front or both, the depth of this neckline varies. Can be plunging or more discrete.

This neckline is flattering for full figured shapes and is a very good choice for wider hips, as a fitted V-neck bodice will draw attention to the face. Also works well for larger busted women, as is enhances the cleavage area.

Halter neck:  
This sleeveless style has straps that fasten round the back of the neck or a bodice with a high neck.

This ultra glamorous neckline will attract attention to the shoulders, back and upper arms. Not suitable for narrow shoulders. Looks great on a more slender figure shape with well defined shoulders.

Off the shoulder  
The shape of this neckline rests below the shoulders across the top of the bust line and will draw attention to you shoulders and collar bone.

It Is flattering on most figures.

Portrait:  
Similar to the off-the-shoulder style, this neckline folds around the shoulders and meets in the front middle point of the bust.

This style enhances the bride’s face features and neck. Not as revealing as the off-the-shoulders style.

Spaghetti or shoe string straps 
Very small straps which run straight over the shoulders and down the back or can be tied around the back of the neck.

Looks great on slimmer slender shapes not suitable for fuller busted or narrow shoulders.

Consider a wrap or jacket for the church ceremony as this style can be very revealing.

Strapless  
The strapless neckline is extremely popular.

Very fitting, with no sleeves or straps, it can be straight across or shaped at the front. Flattering if you have a large bust but needs to be well fitted.

Illusion:  
Any style of neckline, (scoop, sweetheart, V neck etc) which is covered with a sheer net or chiffon finishing at the bust line.

Bateau:  
Running gently from one shoulder to the other creating a shallow curve shape along the collarbone to the border of the shoulders.

Very flattering for women with smaller chests draws the eye up to the face and neck.

Square  
As its name suggests, this neckline is cut into a half-square shape with right angle corners. It is very flattering for most figures.

Scoop  
A classic neckline that is round in cut stretching softly to the shoulders. Looks good on most figure shapes. Elegant and classic.
