How long will my advertisement run for? Until item is sold (maximum term 12 months).
How much will my advertisement cost? Go to current advertising fees. Accessory listings are free with any fully paid advertisement. There are NO REFUNDS. Once you have paid, and your item is listed, the fee is non-refundable.
How do I place my advertisement? Simply click on the 'sell a dress" link and follow the online instructions.
What information should I include in my advertisement? Provide as much detail as possible – remember you have 100 words to describe how fantastic the item is – include any unique features of the gown such as crystal beading, material, couture, designer etc. Include measurements of the gown as well as size.
Please note that your telephone number or email address or both must be displayed on the website in the contact area below your ad. Whilst we use a contact form for any email communications. We strongly suggest that you use a Gmail, Yahoo Mail or similar for this purpose, rather than your personal email address to minimise potential exposure to spam or junk email.
How much should I sell my wedding dress for? This will depend on the quality of your wedding gown. Typically you can expect up to 50% of the original purchase price of the dress; this can however increase to 70% for gowns of exceptional quality or design. If however, you do not receive a high level of enquiries in the first two months you can always change the selling price.
Do I need to have my dress dry cleaned? It is expected that all gowns advertised for sale on Your Wedding Wardrobe would be dry cleaned if the gown has been worn.
Do you charge a commission on the sale of my wedding dress? No, the only charge is the original setup and advertising cost.
Can I advertise my wedding accessories such as shoes or bridesmaid dresses? Yes, we recommend that you place a separate advertisement on our web site for these items.
Is there a recommended format for images? We will edit and compress your images using photo software for web page viewing prior to uploading your advertisement – this enables viewers of your advertisement to download and view the item faster. Currently we offer 4 images per listing our preferred format is JPEG.
Can I change my advert if I need to at a later stage? Yes you may. This service is free please contact us with the required changes.
Please note you are not permitted to change any photo images or upload any new photo images in your ad once it is online as this would be deemed to be a separate ad.
How do I know whether my buyer is genuine? Your Wedding Wardrobe recommends that you obtain as much information from the seller as possible to verify that they are a genuine buyer.
It is recommended that your wait until the payment for your dress is received and cleared before you hand over your dress. Cheques can take up to 4 days to be cleared.
It is up to you as to how you negotiate payment for your dress, direct debit, money order, and bank cheque are popular choices. Just ensure that you have the money before handing over your dress.
Do you facilitate payment between the buyer and seller? No. All financial transactions are private between the advertiser and the prospective purchaser . Please ensure that your are completely satisfied as to the validity of the sale prior to arranging any financial transaction.
Protect yourself against scams. If a "buyer" wants to pay with a cheque in an amount higher than the sale price, then requests that you cash the cheque, and forward the wedding dress and the additional funds. It is likley that the cheque is counterfeit. Even if it clears your bank originally it will bounce and you will then be held responsible for the funds by your bank.
Look out for the following:
- Email sent from abroad
- Email using poor grammar and spelling
- Email from a 'buyer' who wants an urgent purchase but does not ask any specific questions about the dress apart from the price and how payment can be made.
